It began to be mentioned at times when we never thought we would find ourselves as isolated as we have been in the past two years. Tourism will change and with it the modalities, interests and expectations. This will allow us to give ourselves a different journey, based on the search for a purpose and which has as its primary objective the exploration of the territory, human relationships and even a little of ourselves. All based on a real knowledge of the environment and learned in an intelligent and sustainable way, living the travel experience in an extremely profound way and enjoying, step by step, the slowness of movement. We will create intimate connections with the environment around us and we will treasure them day after day.

Today's story

Funtana is Arinus

Near the Cignoni e Nieddu stop of the Trenino Verde the twisting course of the Sarcidano river takes its highest leap – a 20 metre drop and a true spectacle of nature, the su Craddaxioleddu waterfall – before it ends up in the waters of San Sebastiano (or is Barroccus) Lake. It is the feather in the proverbial cap of a magical place, especially in Spring. The Funtana is Arinus park, a combination of oak and beech trees, as well as lush Mediterranean vegetation, lies nestled among the hills of the historical Sarcidano region just a few kilometres from the town of Nurallao. In the midst of this dense vegetation the air is filled with the sound of water gurgling up from a myriad of springs and streaming over riverbeds. The landscape is graced with hues of green, a great place for walks and long hikes in peace and silence to explore nature’s hidden treasures. You can enter the woods along a trail marked by cyclamens and other wild flowers and reach the main water fall, smaller yet charming falls and a variety pools and streams that only enhance the sheer beauty of the place. The sunlight filters down as the relaxing sound of the running brooks, the birdsong and the fragrance of the many trees and bushes accompany you along your way.

Not only, but the nature walk is further enhanced by archaeological sites. Along the way you will come across the Nieddu nuraghe, next to which is a well temple and one of the Mediterranean’s largest megalithic tombs, the Aiodda Giant Tomb. The Sarcidano region is a green and fertile one with a wide variety of hills and valleys. The gently rolling hills protect Nurallao, a small town that is a perfect blend of history and nature. During Roman times, together with Trexenta, it was an important source of grain and wheat. Traces of ancient Punic and the Roman forts are still visible to this day.

2022: Back to travel.. with sustainability!

Italians return to travel and choose sustainability.

This is what emerged from the analysis of the “EY Future Travel Behaviours” observatory, where it was found that the 80% of them, according to the declared intentions for 2022, return to travel and the 74% will do so in a sustainable way.

Attention to sustainability and concern for the consequences of one’s actions on the planet are growing considerably; in fact , about 2/3 of interviewees declared themselves willing to pay a higher price to guarantee the compensation of the CO2 emissions of their trips.

"The largest and most harmonious of the Sardinian tholos, which closely resembles the breadth of those magnificent and splendid Peloponnesian acheas of the mid-2nd millennium BC". The 'father' of nuragic archaeology Giovanni Lilliu praised the singularity and elegance of the 'false dome' vault of the central tower of the nuraghe is Paras. The prehistoric fortress and the surrounding village stand on a limestone hill in a dominant position on the immediate northern outskirts of Isili. The name means 'the friars', because the land where it stands belonged to the Piarists from the 17th century, who built a monastery here. It used to be called su Idili, like the town where it is located.

The monument, built with blocks of marly limestone (white and brown) arranged in horizontal rows, consists of a central tower surrounded by three secondary towers, connected by curtain walls. It has a long and varied history, with three main phases: in the Middle Bronze Age (15th-14th BC) it was built as a single-tower nuraghe; in the Recent Bronze Age (13th-12th BC) it became a 'tancato' nuraghe (Sardinian term for courtyard), with the addition of a tower and a corridor to connect them; in the Final-Recent Bronze Age (12th-11th BC) it became a trilobate nuraghe, with the addition of two more towers and a thirty-metre-long, two-metre-thick wall around it, also with towers, which protected a village of huts. The whole area was later inhabited in Roman (2nd-3rd AD) and Byzantine (6th-7th) times: traces of Roman and early medieval huts have been found, together with ceramic finds and a bronze buckle depicting a man between two Latin crosses.
