The hull of a Dufour 470 of Group Y- Yachting in Sardina fleet after 18 months of treatment with SeaProtector system ( first photo ): once clean it looks like new ( second and third photo).
That is the winning bet of Group Y that, thanks to the innovative safe underwater protective coating with zero impact SeaProtector, establishes a turning point for the Sea world.
The charter company Group Y- Yachting in Sardinia not only offers top charter holiday options in Italy, but also provides everything that relates to customer service and assistance: before, during, and after the cruise.
That’s because its team consists in sailing lovers that, after years of working “on site” have developed abilities and nautical experience that led them to a high professional level. What makes unique the proposal of Group Y- Yachting in Sardinia, is not just the fact that the boarding bases are located in the fascinating Emerald Coast, in the heart of one of the most beautiful Sardinian areas but also the fact that each boat is personalized in every detail to offer beautiful sailing experiences. The obsession for perfection continues also when the season gets cold and it’s time for boats maintenance; yachts must be perfect in every detail in order to have a perfectly efficient fleet which can guarantee high level performances. The idea of realizing an underwater protective coating with zero impact was born from these principles: it is meant to replace the traditional antifouling protections and to renovate the nautical business. Developed by the innovative Group Y start-up, the EHYFA company- thanks to the partnership with the most experienced partners in the European market- an applied research was carried on, spending hundreds of tousands of euros on 130 boats between 2016-2022, and it is about to be launched on the SeaProtector market.
“What is this about?” It is an innovatIve hull protection- Massimo Tosi explains, technical expert of EHYFA- whose advanced technology, fully covered by patents, marks a strong step forward compared to a regular antifouling. SeaProtector indeed is a real protection “system” that, thanks to the use of basic products and different application methods adopted to each single need (such as type of hulls, sail/motor/pleasure/racing yacht) represents today an innovative and ultimate solution to sea pollution as well as to hull protection.
How does it work? The protective coating uses a wide range of silicone-based products: a material like silicone creates a “natural” coating on the hull that is not contaminating and prevents the adhesion of underwater organisms.
Thanks to its superficial molecular tension characteristics, it does not need to release toxic substances in the sea as it happens with the standard antifouling paints. That’s why SeaProtector has all the features that today are essential in sea activities. It is not toxic: it provides indeed an underwater protective coating that meets the needs of protection and eco-sustanability. The non-toxic nature of this product is not influenced by the increasing regulations applied to the traditional underwater paints. Instead it is eco-friendly: its features also positively impact hull performances, by reducing the slipping friction and allowing performances showing an increase between 7% and 12% and a lower fuel consumption.
In addition to that, at the end of its lifecycle, the coating is easily removable in terms of waste disposal. Last but not least it is affordable: if indeed the SeaProtector installation appears more expensive at its initial stage, in a long term it provides a considerable saving in terms of annual boat management costs. Choosing SeaProtector converts hull protection costs in an investment able to increase the boat value in the course of time; EHYFA also provides a 5 years guarantee which allows massive amortization of expenses.
