The Nautical Hotel – a boat holiday solution that is considered the true future of this increasingly developing tourism sector – becomes an increasingly present reality year after year.
So much so that in October 2022, at the end of the summer tourist season, the First Mediterranean Nautical Conference was held organized by Assonautica Nord Sardegna and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture of Sassari, precisely to take stock of the theme of ‘Nautical Hotel between sustainability and innovation.
During the conference the participants had the opportunity to discuss the progress of this type of “new format” of tourism on the sea, the eco-sustainability it entails, the innovation, and the solutions to increasingly improve this new reality for the customers of the future.
In fact, it should be remembered that a Nautical Hotel is defined as a fleet of at least 7 pleasure boats which are connected to a central reference structure on land, in which the tourist can find and therefore have at his disposal all the characteristic services of hotel hospitality. And to date, Yachting in Sardinia, by Group Y, is the first Nautical Hotel – also equipped with ISO 9001 certification – to have 46 boats, 12 of which are catamarans that can offer this innovative solution to the customer.
Always talking about the future, in 2023 Professor Andrea Ratti, professor of Nautical Design at the Polytechnic of Milan, together with Francesco Della Torre, CEO of Group Y, also presented the format of the Nautical Hotel to the Industrial Design students.
The same kids were asked to create projects for the Nautical Hotel, taking into consideration various factors: the territory, the activities, the accommodation facilities, the climate and the type of tourist who chooses the Nautical Hotel.
The first phase of development of these projects, presented last April, led to the conclusion that: if in the past the tourist was an expert sailor, today the Albergo Nautico is a holiday solution that is aimed at a wider audience and that includes athletes, families and digital nomads. “Protecting the sea and at the same time increasing the eco-sustainability of Nautical Tourism – explains Francesco Della Torre – depends only on us and on the decisions we make in the present. Choosing Yachting in Sardinia means choosing to protect the sea, nature and its balance, but without giving up the holiday of your dreams”.
